It has been a long time coming, but comingsoon has revealed Aykroyd’s comments, which came to light via his interview on ‘The Dennis Miller Show’. He remains unsure as to whether or not the entire original cast will be involved, but is confident that filming will begin in the Spring of 2012.

‘Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. [Bill] Murray,’ he says, ‘That is our hope. We have an excellent script. What we have to remember is that GHOSTBUSTERS is bigger than any one component, although Billy was absolutely the lead and contributive to it in a massive way, as was the director and Harold [Ramis], myself and Sigourney [Weaver]. The concept is much larger than any individual role and the promise of GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood.’

He went on to divulge a few details concerning the plot, which entails a passing of the torch from the veterans to the new recruits.

‘My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the cadillac,’ he says, ’he’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.’

In the first of what will be multiple co-productions between The Weinstein Company and Miramax on sequels of films that the Weinsteins produced at their old haunt, Dimension Films and Miramax are teaming on the production of The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes. The film is based on a script by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, who will direct a film that will shoot this summer for release Jan. 27, 2012. The deal was announced today by TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein and Miramax CEO Mike Lang.

The pic uses the genre staple of "found footage" to tap into the mythology of the book that informed the original haunted house movie, which dates back to 1976, when George Lutz moves his family into and out of a house where the previous tenants were murdered by their son, Ronald DeFeo, who claimed he was possessed. "An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror, only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close," is the logline. Paranormal Activity's Jason Blum is producing with La Scala and Farrands, and Bob and Harvey Weinstein are the exec producers.

This will be the first of a bunch of sequels done between the two companies, which is how they buried the hatchet. The Weinsteins held certain rights to their original franchises, and Miramax's Lang and the TWC partners embraced this as a way to exploit the properties and eliminate the acrimony.

Barry Sonnenfeld, finishing up his third Men in Black film, has come up with a new spin on the alien film genre. Sonnenfeld is at the center of a publishing/movie deal with Liquid Comics and producer Arnold Rifkin and his Cheyenne Enterprises. Sonnenfeld will team with comic book writer Grant Morrison to develop a graphic novel and movie under the title: Dominion: Dinosaurs Versus Aliens. Morrison, whose comic book work includes Batman and The Invisibles, will write both the graphic novel and the script. Sonnenfeld will direct the film.While Sonnenfeld has scored his biggest commercial successes with aliens, he's also a dinosaur fanatic who sparked to the idea of combining them. "Growing up, my fascination was all things dinosaur, and as an adult, I've had some success making films about aliens, so this is a dream come true," said Sonnenfeld, who first met Liquid Comics founder Sharad Devarajan when he wrote a forward for one of Liquid's graphic novels. "We've been trying to do a project ever since."

The graphic novel will chronicle a secret prehistoric world war battle. When an alien invasion attacks Earth in the age of the dinosaurs, the planet's only hope is the giants that roam the planet with, it turns out, a lot more intelligence than previously realized. Sonnenfeld, Rifkin and Devarajan will produce, while Liquid cofounder Gotham Chopra will be executive producer. WME will package the film.

The director of Star Trek and the co-creator of Lost told the Hero Complex blog at The Los Angeles Times that he wants moviegoers to come to Super 8 with a sense of real mystery regarding its tale of a wreck of a government train outside a small town in 1979.

“To me, all people need to know is that it’s an adventure about a small town and it’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s scary and there’s a mystery," Abrams said. "What is this thing that has escaped? What are the ramifications of its presence? And what is the effect on people?”

J.J. Abrams explained the origins of the movie, how he was a fan of Super 8 films when he was a kid and was able to integrate that concept into another Area 51-style story he was developing. The result is Super 8, which is part biographical part fantastical. Abrams also told a hilarious story about how, at the age of 16, he entered a Super 8 film contest with director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and won. The young duo caught notice of then Spielberg assistant Kathleen Kennedy, who personally asked if the boys would be interested in cleaning up and preserving Spielberg’s childhood Super 8 films. Even while retelling the story, Abrams was in disbelief — who would let two 16-year-olds handle Spielberg’s films?! — but they did and he’d never forget it.

Before the lights dimmed and the footage played, Abrams warned us that these were completely unfinished scenes. Incomplete SFX, incomplete sound, incomplete color. This was rough, and frankly, he didn’t want to show us. He also didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag on any spoilers, so for the sake of the mystery (because it’s more fun that way), you won’t find anything too shocking here.

Abrams played two scenes for us: a lengthier version of the train wreck scene featured in the trailer and a brief scene at a gas station post-train wreck. In the trailer we see the boys setting up camera before everything derails and that’s what plays out at length in the opening. The vibe is very Goonies in all the right ways — these kids Abrams have found are pitch perfect. They talk like 14-year-olds, they act like 14-year-olds. They’re dynamic is fun loving and they’re having a ball making this zombie movie.

That is, until a truck zips past them, pulls on to the train tracks and takes the locomotive off the tracks. The kids run for cover (as seen in the trailer) and the scene in full is miraculous. You don’t get a sense from the trailer, but the wreck scene is almost entirely practical. At one point a train car barrels through the station and the entire building explodes, wooden panels, metal beams, debris and all. Burning train parts fly through the air as the kids run through the warzone. The main character Joe, a loner kid who recently lost his Mom in a mill accident, witnesses something banging around in one of the cars, but loses focus when his friends call for him. Saying too much would spoil, but Joe and his friends do encounter the man who deliberately drove head on into the train — a man that they know, but we don’t. Creepy!

The shorter scene was a glimpse at an attack on the gas station by the “thing.” A cop and a station attendee mill about in the middle of the night only to cross paths with “it,” which we know from the trailers has some serious powers. In the trailer, we see the attendant being pulled across the floor of the convenience store. From the footage, we just know that he takes quite a walloping before then. Even in this scene, Abrams isn’t giving anything up — who or what was trapped in that train is very much a mystery. To the viral campaign!

Passing judgment on a chunk of out-of-context material is always tough, but worries that Super 8 would rely purely on nostalgia can be washed away. What’s great about the parts of the film we’ve seen are the kids, their tangible characters and how much that matters to the action. Yes, expect some big set pieces in Super 8, but plan on being emotionally invested before you get there. Joe and the gang are goofballs like we all were as kids and if there’s any nostalgia, it’s not for old movies — it’s for childhood itself.

Oh, and expect lots and lots of lens flare.

Apollo 18, Piranha sequel Release Date news

The subtly-titled Piranha 3DD, sequel to last year’s box office (and even critical) success, Piranha 3D, will be opening in 3 dimensions on November 23rd 2011. Originally set for a September 16th release, it’s been pushed back for who-knows-why reasons. Directed by John Gulager, the follow-up to Alexandre Aja‘s film should promise plenty of bare female chests and violent fish bites for audiences to savor. Funnily enough, this means that it’s going up against Martin Scorsese‘s Hugo Cabret, which also opens in 3D. Gulager vs. Scorsese: not an easy choice, but one that must be made.

Finally, the most discouraging of all the release dates is for Apollo 18. Produced by Timur Bekmambetov, it was supposed to come out this month, was changed to April 22nd, and is now scheduled for release on January 6th, 2012. I don’t know about any of you, but when a film – particularity one that’s a “genre movie,” science fiction in this case – has its release date changed by almost a year after originally planned, I get a little skeptical. The trailer was fine, but I could easily see it coming out and being of poor quality. I don’t want to be pessimistic here, but it’s not looking good for the film.

The Super 8 plot:

Earlier today we revealed the Super Bowl TV spot for Super 8, the first footage that has been released so far for J.J. Abrams' new movie. J.J. Abrams also recently gave his first interview about the movie, and the first plot details were revealed, which you can read below.

"The Paramount Pictures release is set in Ohio in 1979 and introduces a troupe of six youngsters who are using a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One fateful night, their project takes them to a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks and, as the camera rolls, calamity strikes - a truck collides with an oncoming locomotive and a hellacious derailment fills the night with screaming metal and raining fire. Then something emerges from the wreckage, something decidedly inhuman."

The director also revealed he wanted to keep the shroud of secrecy around Super 8, although he realized that the movie, which will open on June 10, will be released in a competitive time frame and he doesn't want Super 8 to be overshadowed.

"To me, all people need to know is that it's an adventure about a small town and it's funny, it's sweet, it's scary and there's a mystery: What is this thing that has escaped? What are the ramifications of its presence? And what is the effect on people? But I know that's not enough. Look, I feel we need a little bit of a coming-out party because we are up against massive franchises and brands and most people don't know what Super 8 means. We're a complete anomaly in a summer of huge films ... and we don't want to be so silent or coy that people don't care or don't hear about it."

J.J. Abrams also spoke about the unique father-son element of the movie:

"This is a movie about overcoming loss and finding your way again and finding your own voice. A boy whose lost his mother and the man whose lost his wife. There's this father who, because of the era, never really had to be the parent. He's a good man, he works hard, he's a deputy in the town, but he's never stepped up as father."

He also talked about his young cast, which includes Elle Fanning and Amanda Michalka, and also other young actors who have never appeared in a movie before.

"It was a little bit like being a parent where you kind of have to herd this group. They were all incredibly distinct and just amazing to work with. Two of the main kids had never been on the set of anything before. I have to tell you after the first day or two I was horrified. It just took them 48 hours, though, to go from being complete neophytes to being on their way. It was incredible to watch and as scary as it was for me I can't imagine how scary it was for them."

Great news for all Aliem fans!!! Alien: Prometheus is coming!!!

Now, it seems the Alien Prequel that the director said was “really tough, really nasty. It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?” is completely dead… from a certain point of view.

While the The Alien prequel was set to be Scott’s first foray back into the world of the facehugger since 1979, among the most hotly anticipated sci-fi movies in recent memory and Scott’s first science fiction movie since 1982′s Blade Runner, 20th Century Fox took to Twitter to announce that instead of the Alien prequel, “Ridley Scott’s next film is the science fiction epic “Prometheus.”
Noomi Rapace has been cast in the lead role. The actress will portray a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw. There are four more big roles in the film and one of those roles is that of Vickers, another female lead role that Angelina Jolie (Salt, The Tourist) and Charlize Theron (Young Adult, Mad Max: Fury Road) are both reportedly circling.

Godzilla, the iconic King of the Monsters, may be facing his biggest challenge yet – himself. Hollywood was abuzz last week when Gareth Edwards was named as director for a new American made version of the Big Green Guy. The film will be backed by Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers. Edwards caught the eyes of producers in Tinsel Town earlier this year when he directed MONSTERS.

The first surprise came when Toho Corporation gave the okay for another American version of Godzilla. The first version, starring Jean Reno and Mathew Broderick was panned by critics and ballyhooed by the Hollywood Hype Hydra. It wasn’t that GODZILLA was a bad film, it was a good monster movie; it just wasn’t a good Godzilla movie. Hollywood began blasting GODZILLA before it was released. Producers Roland Emerick and Dean Devlin had shaken the Hollywood foundation with a series of blockbusters and a cocky mien. The movers and shakers thought they needed knocked down a peg, and GODZILLA was the vehicle. Toho was very disappointed with GODZILLA. In fact, the animal showed up in two Godzilla movies made in Japan after the American release and was soundly defeated by the original creature. Still, despite a negative campaign, the American GODZILLA managed to score $435 million in box office sales. With pay-per-views, videos and merchandise sales, the intake was considerably more. The campaign, however, was successful as Emerick and Devlin have not worked together since.

Meanwhile, Godzilla was having his own problems in his native land. A revamped monster, with a four picture deal, was going sour with fans and went through three different directors, seeking the right combination. Toho commissioned an independent Godzilla movie in between movies three and four of the series and it became more popular than the series. In it, Godzilla is reverted to a monster of destruction and the monsters he usually fought to save Earth, Ghidrah, Mothra and Baragon, became the ‘bad guys’. Now the Godzilla fan base was divided between the Earth friendly and the destructive monster Godzilla, and Toho had a publicity nightmare. Toho opted to put Godzilla on hiatus for ten years. Born in 1954, Toho retired Godzilla in 2004 on his fiftieth anniversary and declared no Godzilla movies would be made until 2014. Ten years proved to be too long for a reboot.

Toho announced earlier this year it was bringing Godzilla out of retirement early. The new movie is scheduled for December of 2012. It is planned for 3D treatment. But Toho was now in a dilemma. Script and technical issues threatened to delay Godzilla’s planned return. When Legendary Pictures approached Toho will the concept of doing another American Godzilla back in March, Toho saw a solution to its quagmire. Toho may scrub its planned 2012 release and attempt to satisfy fans with the new American version. This will allow them to keep to their original decade of retirement. The American version will satisfy clamoring fans and give the parent company the needed time to work out its difficulties. But, as of now, both movies could be released within months of each other, creating an on-screen battle of epic proportions.

Gareth Edwards, the British filmmaker who wrote and directed indie sci-fi movie Monsters, is closing a deal to develop and direct the creature feature for Legendary Pictures, the company that co-produced blockbusters such as Inception and The Dark Knight.

Recently, a freaky, mysterious video credited to Blomkamp for something called AGM Heartland appeared in the iPad digital edition of Wired Magazine (issue number 18.12), but some speculate that the video is for a web series and not a feature. Now, Deadline has reported that Blomkamp is shopping around a sci-fi project called Elysium as his next feature and that his District 9 star, Sharlto Copley, is attached to headline it. A new Movie, but we must wait maybe until 2013.

The next Alien Movie:
The movie is based on the 1970's Apollo 18 mission to the moon, which ended up being cancelled. Conspiracy theorists believe that the mission actually happened, and that's where the story will go. According to deadline Timur showed the Weinsteins footage that was purported to have been shot by the crew of Apollo 18. The footage shows "signs of alien life, and the events of the mission are built into a thriller story line."

The film is already in production, and it will be released March 4, 2011, five months from now. The film project is being directed by a visual effects animator named Trevor Caewood, and was written by Brian Miller.

This sounds like it could be a fun flick that will follow the same formula of films like Paranormal Activity, Oren Peli-directed Area 51, and the JJ Abrams-directed Super 8.

In April 4th of 2010, Quintanilla family was found murdered in their country side house. Police reported the existence of 37 hours of recorded evidence. "Atrocious" shows the real images of such evidence. Quintanilla family traveled to their old farm house in Sitges, where Christian and July investigated about the Legend of the Girl in the Garraf woods. Both of them used to record all day whatever they did. On the fifth day of their arrival they were found dead under strange circumstances. ATROCIOUS shows the last five days of life for Cristian Quintanilla and his siblings. It also shows the strange situations that they lived in those moments and which remain unexplained.

Lars Von Trier's Earth-Destorying "Melancholia" Details:

Up until now, we knew very little about Lars Von Trier's (Antichrist, Dogville) upcoming "Melancholia" film except that it is a sci-fi psychological disaster movie about people trying to deal with Earth coming to an end. We now have a few more details.

"In 'Melancholia' I start with the end. Because what is interesting is not what happens but how it happens. So we begin by seeing the world being crushed [by another planet], then we can tell the story afterwards," explained the director.

The film is about two sisters. One of them is melancholic, the other quite normal. The two sisters are played by Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The two sisters react completely differently when the end of the earth approaches. "There are beautiful pictures [the melancholy sister] is just standing there looking at the planet that comes closer and closer and accepts it. The other woman, on the other hand, becomes increasingly panicky," said von Trier.

What do you get if you mix "Top Gun with Independence Day and add a pinch of The Last Starfighter"? The answer, according to Vulture, is an alien invasion project currently in the works at Warner Bros.
Maverick Evil Dead director turned Hollywood stalwart Sam Raimi is said to be in "deep negotiations" with

Warner to create EDF, which stands for Earth Defense Force. Hollow Man and Air Force One writer Andrew Marlowe is scribbling the script, which details the efforts of Earth's armies to repel a full-scale incursion from extraterrestrials.

As described by Vulture, the script sounds like 90s blockbuster Independence Day with an extra act or two added to the back end. Having survived one initial onslaught, a united effort is made by Earth's forces to defend the planet from a second, far larger armada.

The word is that Raimi won't be in the director's chair, so who will step in to fulfil that role isn't yet clear. But with the picture still at such an early stage (EDF isn't necessarily its confirmed title), it'll almost certainly arrive well after the current wave of alien attack movies about to take over cinemas, which includes the likes of Skyline, Battle: Los Angeles, Cowboys And Aliens, and Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo's quirky invasion romance, Extraterrestre.

Cloverfield 2 - right version... EDITT!!! My Cloverfield Version: FULL STORY!!!

First: I would not call it Cloverfield 2... more: Clover - The Deep Blue Path.

My idea for Japan: Clovers Mother is there, captured by Tagruato many years ago!!! But the Wachmen are sleeping, we have a big mistake... and she escapes. Destroys half Japan and the Tokyo Tower!!! OMG, she is so big... OMG!!! The Story plays in the same time with New York. And Tagruato don´t know, if she is still in this Chamber or not... maybe we can see what is happen with Clover after N.Y.. I will call it: Tokyo - Field of Flowers.

Will Clover and his Mother ever coming together??? Or is Clover dead??? But this is a another Story... Tokyo - Field of Flowers.

OK:
part 1. The awakening of Clover: Mariana Trench: We are very deep in the trench. Silence. A driller comes from above, and touches the ground. He goes deeper and stops. Is firmly in that ground. We see on one part of that driller and can read: Tagruato. The worker are giving now full power, the driller tried again to move... we see cracks on the ground, the driller is opens something. BOOM, the driller is falling down (by the ground) and lands (deeper) on the next ground.

part 2. We are now in a Cave. Many years ago, lots of stones has built a cave (by a Earthquake). The driller is now on the ground and is broken. We see something next to the driller... a big something... one eye goes open. Then, we see a big shadow, what is swims the top of this gave... and out.

part 3. Mariana Trench or that unknown:The parasites: That are a big colony in the trench. I call it the "Trench Ants" or "ground-nester". There are lots of them, build his nests. The food: plants. Can not swim. They were never on the top of the Ocean.

part 4. Clover and the Parasites: Clover will find his Mother. He finds himself in an fight between a big "Monster" tentacle an the parasites, what is destroing thier nests. Clover destroys the tentacle and is injured. The parasites helps him, with this mysterious plants. Years are going...

part 5. Clover is feeling strong and powerfull. He has decided to leave the nests and find his Mother. As a thank you, he took some parasites to the top of the Ocean. But some of this many parasites are going with him...

part 6. Monster meets Humans or i call it: 2 misunderstood creatures meets together. The one will find his Mother, and the other one will defend his planet. New York, maybe Japan or L.A. (i hope). The struggle for survival begins!!!

OK, next: part 7: Santa Monica, L.A... the Beach, the people are swiming, suddenly... they are screaming, running out of the water... people on the Beach looking, what is going on - something is running out of the water, more and more of this creatures coming out of the water and attack the people on the Beach.

part 8: The parasites vandalize the Beach!!! The police is coming, tries to stop them, but they have problems to stop them... are too many... a News Helicopter flies Over the Beach, makes pictures... Boom, something hits the Helicopter from behind. The Helicopter loses the control and crashed in a building.

part 9: The pier: Some People are on the big wheel, looking on the beach... Panic everywhere!!! A big Creature is coming out of the Water... the people on the big wheel screaming, can not away... OMG!!! The Creature moves near of them, Jesus!!! Face to face with the Creature, what is going to the city!!!

part 10: the city: people shopping. A Roar!!! Suddenly:... Police on the streets, calls the people to leave the area... the people are confused, a Roar again!!! The multi-storey car park: someone is on the top, will start his car... a shadow is coming. The man looking above and screams (cut).

part 11: A big Roar!!! The people are looking to the multi-storey car park... We see slowly the head of Clover, ROAR!!! Panic!!! The Parasites coming from a street and attack the people!!! Clover destroys the the multi-storey car park and is in the city... police and helicopters everywhere!!! But they have not chance... they call the Army!!!

part 12: Roar!!! Clover is going back to the Beach... back to the Ocean. The parasites are following him. A Big schock for the people in Santa Monica. Later, the Army arrives, looking on the pictures, some people have used a Handy. Movies.

part 13: the Ocean: the Army on the ships... some Helicopters and the Submarine. But they can find nothing. Some hours going... news about some dead fishes around North- and Southamerica. In Mexico is a dead whale. Then, a S.O.S call from a ship. We can hear a recording.

part 14:The Army is now near Brazil. We see a wrack on the Ocean. The Army (ships, helicopters,submarine in action) is coming near the ship. The Radar is showing something... something is under them. The Submarine has a signal too. But they can find nothing.

part 15: Suddenly: Something hit a submarine!!! The crew is surprised. Something attacked the submarine!!! The ships are losing the contact to the submarines!!! A part of a submarine flies out of the Ocean... the Army used the radars and is ready to fight. Then a shadow, something is coming out of the Ocean...

part 16: Big fight: Clover vs the Army: The Army open the fire. Lights, Rockets hit the Creature. OMG, what a fight!!! Slowly, Clover is going under... Yes, the Army killed the Creature (they think it).

part 17: Later: The Chaui Station: The news are showing some pictures of the Chaui Station and this accident, what is going on??? Helpers are coming, the Army is not in the near. Some Submarines are there, taking pictures... they are seeing a Creature what is swiming. But not enough: the ground of the Ocean is moving... wtf??? OMG, lots of parasites are walking around.

part 18: Other news are speaking about a Satellite, what is fallen in to the Ocean. And about Tagruato and TIDOwave... between the news: some slusho commercials ;-) The Army is arrived, but again they can find nothing... the night is coming. New York: silence: A ship is coming... OMG, something hits the ship, the lights are going out, ROAR!!! (cut and over) (you know is what coming then ;-) ).
